Well I ended up cleaning the apratment and going to the gym, not an exciting day, and the weekend ahead looks to be a similar situation.

What the hell is this all about?

Now that school is out and finals are over I have nothing to occupy my time with.  I don’t start working for the county prosecutor until the 11th, and have yet to hear about starting my second part-time paid job, so until then I am free.  Lately I have been doing doubles at the gym, but I’m starting to get tired, I mean you can only run so many miles and lift so many weights before it gets a little mundane.  Day time teevision sucks without cable, leaving the occasional soap opera, veggietales, or court-tv to enjoy, none of which are the least bit enjoyable.  I was hoping that maybe the law review writing competion might post this week, but that doesn’t post until the 11th, so I’m outta luck trying to get that out of the way.  Any suggestions on what to occupy my time with?

Waiting at school for two hours to learn how to use Casemaker, off-brand Lexis or West, seems like a dumb idea.  Instead I will go listen to classic Howard Stern fights.

I didn’t have anything to write about today until I read this headline…

Chicago Bear Acquire Jay Cutler from Denver Broncos

Wow, that is the worst news I heard all week.  Why would Denver trade away Cutler? I have no idea.  Cutler would have never wanted to leave if the new management would have just treated the guy with a little respect.  Sure he is a little bit of a whiner, but he’s a damn good QB too.  Also, who wants Kyle Orton?  The Broncos shouldn’t.  What a ridiculous trade on Denver’s behalf, awesome trade on Chicago’s.  What were they thinking?

Today in class, the one I actually made it to or was actually held, a student was giving the facts of the case and he came to an amount of money that was at issue.  The case stated a specific amount of $18,759.00, but when this student went to recite the amount he said, “the amount at issue was approximately $18,759.00.”  This is dumb because $18,759.00 is not an approximation, it is the exact amount at issue.  Had he said approximately $18,000 or approximately $19,000 I would not have had an issue with what he said, but he didn’t and I now think less of him.  This student has at least 17 years of American education under his belt, albeit, not the world’s greatest education system, he should know the difference between an approximation and an exact amount.  It annoyed me enough that I don’t really remember much from the remaining time in class, other than I kept wondering why someone would say approximately if they were going to state the exact amount.

I over slept for Contracts this morning, sorta lame.  Then I arrived at school an hour early for my second class, so that sucked too because I could have just kept on sleeping.  Then when I finish reading in the library and head to my second class, it turns out it got canceled.  Why did I even bother waking up this morning.  I wish Family Law would get canceled, its the worst.

Due to recent incidents at work, we got dragged into a sexual harassment policy refresher course this morning. It was your typical boring HR drivel until they got to the section on workplace romances, when they really emphasized what the policy was. Now, we could have been out of there quickly, but there is always some asshole who has to make things difficult.

This one guy started questioning the policy, in particular, asking about semantics of how the policy is worded, throwing out different scenarios and trying to find gray areas where the HR woman couldn’t define what should be done. This is annoying in and of itself, but this guy is married with three kids. He isn’t asking about the policy for his own protection; he’s just being an asshole. I had to speak up.

Me: Why are you being difficult? You’re married. Do you plan on trying to date someone here?

Him: Mind your own business.

Me: Hey, I know you have a hard-on for Charles over there, but I think that’s something that you should keep private.

That probably wasn’t the best thing to say in a meeting with HR about sexual harassment, but it sure shut him up.

Sounds like a typical day in Prof. Hagel’s Torts class.  Spending 30 minutes of a 50 minute class coming up with 20 different scenarios that will never occur just to try and stump the Prof.  Dumb ass law students.

Yesterday I managed to spit out a memo.  Spent 11 hours at school though so that was pretty lame, but at least I wasn’t in Fargo where they were in a blizzard.  65 degree weather in March is awesome, I don’t know how I survived up north before.

FYI: Didn’t work on my memo this weekend, so I get to spend the rest of today hammering it out.  This sucks.
